A Small Longquan Celadon Carved Jar and Cover, Guan

Yuan/early Ming Dynasty, 14th/15th Century

4 inches high, 3 3/4 inches across, Japanese box


Of squat baluster shape carved around the body with a peony scroll between vertical slender lappets at the slightly waisted base, and further wider-spaced lappets at the rounded shoulder, the cover of lotus-leaf shape with molded peony sprays and twig finial.
