A Massive Bronze Bell, Bianzhong

Lengthy Cast Inscription including the Date, Xuantong Third Year corresponding to 1911

A lengthy inscription cast around the central section (waist) dates the bell to the third year of the eleventh month of the Xuantong era (1911), it also includes the donors name and names the bell 'Xing Long Lu', the inscription is bordered above and below with a band of wavy lines, the lower section (sound bow) consists of six large lappets (two damaged) with simple flowerheads surrounded by dotted bands, and the upper section (crown) is pierced with six circular flowerhead apertures and a smaller centralised piercing  below the supporting handles (canons).
